We absolutely suggest Detour for anyone looking to explore Latin America. Our initial journey to the Galapagos and Machu Picchu, which we set up back in 2020, got canceled because of Covid. Layna has kept in touch and really went the extra mile to help us replan our adventure two years later -- she’s been super responsive, tweaking the itinerary, offering great tips, and more -- a true travel angel!! Very professional and incredibly knowledgeable -- working with her and Detour has been a real joy!!

I discovered Detour through a Google search, and let me tell you, I'm so thankful I did. I went on a trip to the Galapagos with seven family members. I can't say enough good things about this company. They handled every single detail of my trip that I had been planning for a whole year by myself. I never felt isolated or anxious about anything. My girlfriend and I had an absolutely fantastic time in the Galapagos Islands, and we owe it all to the wonderful support from Detour. What a trip! Hiking the Inca Trail with Amazons Explorer was a blast. Our guide was super passionate about Inca history, and those angels who carried our gear and grub made it all possible for me to tackle the hike. After that, we headed to the Tambopata Research Center along the Amazon River with Rainforest Expeditions. The sounds of the rainforest are something I’ll never forget: the Macaws, Howler Monkeys, and a nighttime boat ride under the stars... Detour Destinations really nailed it in organizing this adventure. They provided pre-travel info, gave me an itinerary with all the contacts and phone numbers in case plans changed, and guides were there to meet us at the airport. Travel was smooth as butter, and I absolutely loved it.

What a fantastic trip! They really nailed it by including all the sights we were eager to check out while sticking to our budget. Our agent, Allie, was awesome. I’d totally recommend them and would use their services again if I get the chance.

A few years ago, I had an awesome experience during my journey to Ecuador. It was my first major vacation outside the US. Detour made everything enjoyable, simple, and cozy! I really appreciated the mix of activities scheduled for every day: snorkeling, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and so much more! Many of these were new to me, and all the tour guides were super helpful and friendly with every single activity. Can't wait for my next adventure with them :)

The 7 Day Lares Trek with Mountain Lodges was simply enchanting. The guides were fantastic, the accommodations were charming, and the meals were top-notch. I couldn't help but shed a tear when it was all over. Detour made the entire booking experience a breeze; I had my heart set on the Inca Trail, but all the permits were gone. I was pretty disappointed, but Greg from Detour assured me that this trek would be just as amazing. And you know what? It was even better! I'm really thankful Detour suggested this alternative, which turned out to be the perfect choice for me. I’m so happy I went on this journey!

I recently went on an adventure to visit the Huaorani tribe in the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador. It turned out to be one of the most incredible journeys I've ever experienced. The care we received was top-notch, we gained a ton of knowledge, and we truly appreciated the warm welcome from the Huaorani folks.
